E.L.F. HAUL!!!!

Hey guys!! Sorry about he MIA nonsense. I had a mishap with the lipsticks. BUT I took full advantage of the HUGE sale E.L.F. was having a couple weeks ago. They had things as cheap as 40 CENTS!!!!!! so I got s MASSIVE haul to test out. Because if I hate it, well, I spent next to nothing.

So, I JUST got the package. Opened it. Organized it. It’s all laid out on the floor and going to open it all and swatch it right here with you. Semi-Live. Its live but not videod. Thus, semi-live is born. Here we go!

Not as dark as the package looks! Pretty color. Might actually use it as an eyeshadow also. Very pretty and shimmery.

Very faint. Pretty color. Just barely there. Maybe with a different brush.

Weird note: smells REALLY good.

Woah. Very little goes a LONG way. As you can see. But smells SO good. Gorgeous color. A little tacky feeling when it goes on but dries quick. Loving this.

Same great smell. Glides right on. Definitely can’t wait to use it!!

So, if you bought $25 worth of stuff you got free shipping and a free 5-piece gift. This was my 5-piece gift. I wanted to spotlight the deal for a second and show the items. The mascara and eyeshadow trio you’ll see later in the post.

Woah. Ultra bright. This was the one in the gift set!

Going to test one of these babies out to make room on my arm for the other swatches!

They’re VERY TINY.

All the lippies. Too to bottom – first to last.

I got two of these. Purchased one. One came in the mystery gift.

And last but not least…. one mascara was in the mystery gift, the other purchased. And I’ve never used or owned or anything of the sort falsies. So, why not.

That’s all for now guys! Hope you enjoyed unwrapping with me!

Okay, so, I’ve mentioned before I have an issue with lipsticks. But wow, I never realized how much I have. So, I got my makeup organizers, finally. And while organizing, I’m putting each on and reviewing for you. But just so I don’t overwhelm you, I’ve broken them all down by color. So the next few days will be a new color each day. 😌

Today is clearly nudes. I sent Aidan a photo of my makeup remover cloth I was using to remove each and captioned it “nudes are finally done” and her fiancΓ© saw it and asked why I was takin nudes. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ last thing this mama is doing is taking nudes. 😡😷

Anyways, lets jump right in! Nudes are my biggest collection. I love nudes. All different shades. They’re just so versatile. And in the following photos, don’t judge I’ve already taken all of my makeup off for the day before I did these. Didn’t think it through very well. And all lippies are ranked on a 5 ✨ system. 5 being the best.

Arbonne Kiss At Midnight, Peach πŸ‘

Arbonne is an all natural company so it has a bit of a different scent to it. It’s glossy, it’s smooth, it’s simple. If you are into the whole all natural stuff, it’s great. For me, it’s alright. Not a lot of pigment. Kinda tacky. ✨✨

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor, Embrace

This is one of my favorite go-tos. I love this liquid lipstick. It smells like icing, it’s smooth as butter, the formula and texture are great, it’s long wearing. It’s just all around great. It is a little tiny splotchy but not really worth mentioning. ✨✨✨✨✨

Too Faced Melted Matte, Child Star

Highly disappointed. My beloved Too Faced. I’d been wanting/debating this lipstick for a LONG time. And last time I went to Ulta they had this one sitting on the counter so last minute I grabbed it. The formula, the smell 😷, everything. I’m just so unimpressed. I didn’t like it. Still debating returning it actually. ✨

Pixie by Petra, Rose Naturelle

I LOVE this color. This formula. Everything. It was a major go to of mine for awhile last year. Hence the lipstick on the lid and everything. I kinda neglected it awhile but definitely putting it back into rotation! ✨✨✨✨

Maybelline Color Jolt Lip Paint, 10 – Never Bare

SO unimpressed. I’d seen these all over YouTube. People raving. Was so excited to try it. I think after putting it on tonight, that makes the MAYBE third time I’ve worn it. It’s got barely any color. It’s basically just a gloss. Over a nude maybe. But solo? No. ✨

Trust Fund Beauty, K, Bye

Although, I DO love the name of the color, I’m not THAT into this one. It doesn’t do much for me. It’s tacky, it’s got a weird scent. It’s just off. I can’t quite put my finger exactly on it. But I do love the color ✨✨

trèStique Matte Lip Crayon, Florence Fig

Another former go-to. Although, it smells just like an actual crayon. I love the formula, the simplicity, it’s smooth and creamy. And I like the color! It looks great with a simple look! ✨✨✨✨

Essence, ?

I’m not even sure the color of this. It’s terrible though. Not even worth mentioning. It’s tacky, sticky, super glossy, messy, smelly, once you pull packaging off, every trace of what it is is gone. ✨

Smashbox, Primrose

I love this shade. It’s a mini. I got it in a three set of Smashbox lipsticks at Ulta. And let me just say, some of the BEST lipsticks I’ve ever gotten have been from the sample lipstick collections. But this one is a gorgeous color and great formula. Decent wear time. Just love it!

Smashbox, Famous

Same as the last one. A bit more of a pink tint to it but same formula and everything. πŸ’œ

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid, 10 – Nude Flush

πŸ™ŒπŸ½ hands down the BEST liquid lipstick, nude, everything. It smells like icing. It tastes good πŸ˜‚ the formula is absolutely PERFECTION. And it lasts ALL day. I’m seriously am in LOVE with this. It’s definitely one of my go-to lippies. 😍

Kylie Lip Kit, Koko K

Last but not least, can’t have a lippie collection without a Kylie Jenner Lip Kit. I love everything about this EXCEPT it is kinda dry and dries out the lips. Otherwise – πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

Sorry for the delay!! I thought I hit post the other day when I did all of it but apparently not. πŸ€”

Major posts coming soon!Β

Hey everyone!!! I just want to check in real quick and let you all know we haven’t forgotten about you! Things got a tad bit crazy for both of us this weekend! So, just a couple quick updates to let you all know where we are…

I’m currently working on some MAJOR lipstick posts. Making sure I have them all where I need them. Finally got my lipstick organizers in the mail today. I’ve been waiting on them to go through all my lippies and post about them while putting them in! Just debating on how to go about it. It’ll probably be by similar shades! So, I’m going to start those hopefully tomorrow. If not, definitely Thursday! I’ll even double post if I can’t get it tomorrow! 😁 I also have a few other things I’m working on for you guys as well!

Aidan’s been swamped with school, trying out s few products and looking at wedding venues this week! So she’s been super busy. But she’s trying out some new products that I think she’ll be posting about soon! I met her yesterday to check out a venue and let me tell ya — her eye shadow was bangin’! Hoping she took pics!

Anyways, just wanted to give everyone a quick update and let you know what was going on. We’ll be back soon and look for some major stuff coming your way!!

Okay guys. You don’t know this yet BUT I’m lipstick OBSESSED! I’m working on a big (probably multiple part) lipstick blog. Just to get myself organized as well as let you guys in a little on the obsession. πŸ˜‚ anyways, I went to Ulta the other day to grab one of Lipstick Queen’s Frog Prince lipsticks. πŸΈπŸ‘‘ well, if you’re reading this then you probably know this already but you can NEVER go into Ulta for just one thing. 😏 so, I ended up with two eyeshadows, shampoo and conditioner, the lipstick I went in for, and two more lipsticks.

And that’s where we begin. Naturally, I came home to play with my new stuff. What I had time for at least. I went for Frog Prince so I obviously tried that first (look for future blog). I had to get baby a high chair that night so I just left it at that and decided to try the others the next morning.

Fast forward two mornings to today. I got up. For all excited to try Makeup Revolution’s version of a Kylie Lip Kit. I love Makeup Revolution. I’ve not had any products that have disappointed me. I LOVE that they make cheaper, affordable versions of the bigger brands. Even if some people can’t understand some people just can’t afford things like that and would like the luxury of those products at a more afforadable price point (yes, I’m looking at you, Kay Von D πŸ™„πŸ˜€).

So, I put the liner on. Okay. Fine. Lip liner. Whoopty dooooo. Then the liquid lipstick. And after I got it on, I was in love. The color was stunning. (I was trying on Reign, btw) it looked beautiful. Then, I opened my mouth. And that’s when I realized I wasn’t going to like it. Not quite to hate yet though. It was just shy of being stuck Closed. What the heck?! So, I started talking, moving my mouth, steadily opening and closing, thinking maybe I just needed to let it dry. No. Got worse. It was the tackiest lipstick ever. I’m not joking when I say I would’ve been better off with super glue on my lips.

Then came the real fun.

I wanted it off. And I wanted it off IMMEDIATELY. Micellar water. Didn’t budge. Nothing. The cloth literally stuck to my lips. Makeup remover cloths. Same thing. Wouldn’t budge. I was LITERALLY SCRUBBING the life out of my lips and this lipstick wasn’t budging. St all. It finally started easing up. Got (what I thought) was the majority off, threw on one of my favorite Smashbox lipsticks and left. At this point, I was running late for work. Got to work and was telling my coworkers about the product.   Went to a sink and wet my finger with hot water and started to scrub, after two swipes on my lip, I pulled away just to see what the consistency was like or if it was even coming off. My fingers stuck together!!!!! I had my coworker feel it and she was even like wtf. So I scrubbed my lips until they were almost bleeding and finally got it all off. 😀😩😭

Like I said before, I LOVE Makeup Revolution. But this product is a MAJOR no. I returned the products immediately after work.

And that’s the worst lipstick I’ve ever tried. Any makeup horror stories like that for you? I’d love to hear them!

Mini Ulta Haul

I ran by Ulta to make a return today… && of course I couldn’t stop myself from purchasing more makeup. So, I thought I’d share with you what I picked up on my mini haul!

Ulta just started carrying NARS.. which basically completed my day. I don’t shop at Sephora, so I’ve never actually tried NARS. I’ve heard amazing things about their blush (especially Orgasim)! Which means… I purchased their blush, in Orgasim. HAHA!

NARS does a GREAT job on packaging. A lot of times, these boxes are super difficult to open. I HATE tearing them. Don’t ask. However, NARS makes a little slip with a pull tab, making the box super easy to open. On top of that, the blush is protected by additional cardboard packaging… ensuring that this little beaut is protected during its entire trip to your house! I love that they go the extra mile with their packaging!

The blush container has a velvet, matte feeling to it. It’s really soft. I feel like they went above and beyond here. However, it smudges really easily. I had foundation on my finger when I pulled it out of the box, so I smudged it within 5 seconds of opening it.

When you open the blush, there is another layer of protection. A lot of companies place a flimsy piece of plastic here. Not NARS. This plastic is thick and really gives you the security of knowing that the product will stay protected. On top of that, they brand the plastic. I love this. They put a lot of though into their packaging and ensuring that their name is on every layer.

Finally, for the blush itself. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS COLOR. I have cool toned skin, so it can be hard for me to find a blush that looks good. However, this color is absolutely beautiful. It is highly pigmented and went onto my brush very smoothly.

I also picked up Urban Decay’s NAKED Illuminated Shimmering Powder. I’ve heard great things about this product, and even though it has been on the market for awhile now, I never had the chance to try it out. I decided that it was time today.

I purchased it in the shade Aura. It was a toss up between all of the shades that they offer in this product, but I opted to get this one because it was shimmery without too much color added. This box was a little harder to open. I ended up ripping it. 😦 In addition, there was no additional protection around the product BUT I honestly don’t think it is needed here because the powder is inside a very thick box.

And here it is…. Ahhhh!!! Can you hear the angels singing?? This thing is gorgeous. Seriously. I love the design of the box, the unique design of how the powder sits, that there is a mirror, AND a little brush hidden away in the bottom.

Here is a close up. Look at all that SHINE!!

The powder was super smooth and pigmented, as well. It transferred right onto my brush. A lot of illuminators take some effort to get onto the brush, but not this bad boy.

Last, but definitely not least… I picked up four shades of Anastasia Beverley Hills (ABH) eyeshadow and a magnetic palette to hold them in! Ulta is having a sale today… buy four shades for $40 and get the palette for FREE. ❀

The packaging isn’t really too special. The boxes are thin and easy to tear open. I don’t think that this is really a concern though because the shadows are protected by a plastic covering, inside. The palette has no additional protection.

The palette only holds four shades. I like this and hate this. It makes it an easy, affordable way to make your own palette. However, if you ever want to add more, you have to keep buying palettes. I wish that it held more, honestly.

I bought four GORGEOUS colors. The formula is amazing. They are like butter, which tells me that the blending will be superb. First, Sangria. It is a burgundy, wine color. This shade is matte.

Second, Gold Rush. This one is a metallic, shimmery shade. When I say yellow, I mean yellow!!

Third, Orange Soda. This one is a lighter orange shade. It is matte.

And fourth, Metal. This one is a metallic, shimmery silver color.

I took these products and created one of my favorite looks. I blended the shadows to make a sunset eye. The blush and the illuminator really pulled the look together and sealed the deal.

I finished the look with my favorite Kylie Lip Kit… Dolce K… and threw some Poppin’ ontop of it.

Let me know what you think!!

My Holy Grail… πŸ™ŒπŸ½

Hey beauties (and beauts)! I didn’t get around to posting yesterday but Aaron took me on a surprise date when I got off of work! We went to see Beauty and the Beast 🌹- absolutely LOVED it! They did great! Anyways, you’re not here to listen to me jabber about those sorts of things. You want the makeup! So, here we go!

Today’s post is going to be my holy grail. My must haves. Can’t live withouts. If I could only take one item from each “category” what would it be? I got this idea and thought it’d be way easier than it turned out to be. Not a bad problem to have, I suppose! So, without further ado….

Too Faced HangoveRX

Now, this is one I don’t budge on. I LOVE this primer. You’ll learn quickly that Too Faced tends to be favorite brand. But something about this primer is just great. I won’t use any others.

ABH Perfect Brow Pencil, Medium Brown

Anastasia Beverly Hills (ABH) Perfect Brow Pencil in Medium Brown. A lot of people prefer pomades, gels, etc. I’m old fashioned when it comes to my brows. I have all of those but I get the best results, quickest, with this baby. And with a little one, quickest and easiest is best most of the time. Please excuse the fact that it’s so worn. I use it a lot. Love it.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

I know I said I love Too Faced. But this one is coincidental. I never really tried shadow primers or anything before but I got the Nikkie Tutorials Power of Makeup Palette last spring/summer when it came out (LOVEEEE, btw) and it had this in it, so I tried it and have been using it most of the time (when I remember, I’ll admit I’m bad about this one) since. And it works great!

ABH Modern Renaissance Palette

I just got this palette. And when I did, the girl in Sephora told me it was life changing…. let’s just say that’s an understatement. The colors, the pigmentation, the buttery soft feel, literally everything about this palette is perfection. So, this was an easy winner.

Maybelline Master Kajal

(PSA: I forgot to take a photo of this liner this morning so using one I had already, don’t mind the mess)

If you’re like me and “wing-challenged”, meaning you are terrible at giving yourself wings, then this is the liner for you! It seriously does it for you. With just a turn of your hand. It’s so, so easy to use and I wish I had a better picture. I dropped the ball on that one. 😦

Too Faced Better Than Sex

This one was another no brainer for me. I first fell in love with this mascara two years ago. I have several mascaras, have tried several, but always go back to this one. it’s just perfect. And go figure, another Too Faced product.

L’OrΓ©al Infallible Pro-Glow & ABH Oval Brush

The entire Infallible line by L’OrΓ©al is just great. I have yet to find a product from that line I don’t like. I originally was give the Pro-Matte from s friend because it was too dark for her and she has oily skin. It was my color and I quickly fell in love. But I have dry skin. So I tried out the Pro-Glow, although it’s great, it doesn’t last as long for me so I mix the two. And it works perfect! I get my Glow in a shade lighter than my skin tone and the Matte in a shade darker, perfection. Also pictured is my foundation brush. Compatible to the Artis Oval Makeup brushes, this thing is perfection. I love it. It’s so soft and smooth. Blends to my face so perfectly and uses HALF, I’ll say it again for the people in the back, HALF, of the product a beauty blender or something of that sort would use.

Maybelline Age Rewind

This is another no-brainer. I’ve only found one other concealer I like as much as this one (Naked). This one is much more cost friendly for as much as it gets used. And I just use a simple beauty sponge to blend it out.

Benefit Hoola

Big shoutout to Aidan for getting me this lovely for Christmas last year. Round of applause for her. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ Benefit’s Hoola blends so well and is just soft and everything I want in a bronzer. I personally think their brush could be a little softer but I use it and love it regardless!

Too Faced Love Flush, Love Hangover

SURPRISE!!! Yet another Too Faced product. I think this is a fine time to make note that this post is in no way sponsored by Too Faced. But their Love Flush in Love Hangover is just perfect shade, formula, everything. Smooth. I love it. It’s another one that I got recently and put the others on the back burner. (Sorry Physicians Formula and NikkieTutorials – the go-to blushes prior to this purchase).

NYX Illuminator, Magnetic & NYX Fan Brush

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter, Radiant Lights

Okay. Highlighters and Lipsticks are my FAVORITES. I’ll always BARE MINIMUM have highlighter, lippie, and mascara on. So, there’s no possible way I could choose one. So I chose my top two and that was even hard. I do have a LOT of highlighters. But each of these are perfect for different looks. I also included a photo of the brush I use. A fan brush is my FAVORITE brush for highlighters. It just gets the job done so perfectly. Makeup Revolution’s Vivid Baked Highlighter in Radiant Lights is perfect “strobing” and BAM! WOW!  The NYX Illuminator in Magnetic is still BAM! and WOW!  but it’s a little bit more subtle. And the color is just 😍 another thing you’ll quickly learn about me – my favorite color is rose gold. I’m a sucker for anything rose gold.

So. Here’s the deal. I managed to pick a favorite for each category. However, I have OVER 40 lippies. There’s no way I could pick a favorite. I am however doing a HUGE lippie post in the near future to make up for it. So look for that coming your way soon.

There’s tons of excellent ones out there but this one is a fraction of the price and works just as good! Cut corners when I can! πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

I used all of the products I mentioned above and created this simple look! And one more picture for the road…. I got a little help with my makeup this morning from the best assistant a girl could ask for! πŸ˜‰

So, there’s my holy grail. My go-to’s. My number ones. What are some of your favorites?!

Beauty Bar

Evening Ladies (&& Gentleman)!!

Since Jacki had to go and show off her new vanity, I decided I needed to, as well!!

I just purchased my first home and since I gave my fiancΓ© full range of the garage, he gave me full range of the extra bedroom. We don’t have kids, and don’t plan on having any, so I took the opportunity to turn it into my own little salon. We’ve only been in the home for a month, and between grad school and working, I haven’t had time to paint the walls yet. It’s on my list but probably won’t get done until the semester is over. So, please forgive the horrible wall color. (I have NO idea why anyone would choose these atrocious colors).

This is my lovely little Beauty Bar…

I purchased the desk from Walmart.com for $30, the metal shelving on the left from Walmart (in store) for $20, the plastic drawers on the right from Amazon.com for roughly $8-$10 for each set, the baskets on the left from Lowes for $4 each (clearance isle!), the chair from Walmart for $12, the mirror from Lowes for $30, and the under cabinet lighting for $30 from Lowes. So, I spent roughly $175 for everything. Compared to other vanities out there, I think it was worth it. Not only was I able to make it my own, but it ended up being cheaper for me because I’d still have to buy all the extras even if I purchased an “actual” vanity.

Let’s take a closer look…

First, is my straightener holder. It needs repainted (I’ve had it awhile) but this was super easy to make. My fiancΓ© and I went to lowes and purchased the wood and the PVC pipe. He put it together for me and I painted it. The PVC pipe is heat resistant (to an extent) so it is PERFECT for my styling tools. Unfortunately, my blow dryer doesn’t fit, so I am working on making a holder for it. I screwed this right into the wall, making it super easy to reach for the tool I need and keeps the heat off my vanity. It also keeps the cords organized and out of the way. I used to keep my tools in a basket and everything was ALWAYS getting tangled.

Here, we have my hair products. I keep my dryer in the top basket, hair products on the 2nd and 4th shelves, lotions and tanning stuff on the 3rd shelf, and nail polish and tools on the bottom shelf. This allows me to keep everything organized and still have it close enough to grab. I hate keeping things in the bathroom, because I never get ready in there!! The only thing that sucks is that the shelves are wire, making things fall over easily. I need to get more wood from lowes to create a flat platform.

I keep my makeup on the right side of the desk. I have everything organized by type. On the top shelf, I have my foundations and mascara. I am sure that these holes were designed for lipstick, but I wear way more mascara than lipstick, so sans their idea. Top left drawer is where I keep my primers and top right are my little tools (tweezers, facial razor, q-tips, etc). Down from there is my power foundations and liquid contour products. Then comes my setting powder. Next drawer is my bronzers and powder contours. Below that is my eyebrow drawer and last, not not least, is my eyeliner drawer. I keep my liquid eyeliners up top though. I’ve found that if you lay them down for too long, the product settles and makes it difficult to use. So, I keep my with the point facing down! This has definitely increased the life of them.

Next shelf down, you’ll find travel size mascaras, some more foundation, beauty blenders, face oils, scotch tape (a must have for perfecting your eyeshadow), and some cute little makeup remover pads that my mom made me. In the drawer below those items, you’ll find my illuminators. Below that are my single eye shadows. Finally, below that are my lipsticks and glosses. Scattered around my entire vanity, are my palettes.

On the bottom shelf, I keep a catch all basket. Whenever there is a good sale at Ulta or I make a drug store haul, I put those products here, until I get to them. This is everything that I am going to try, as well as backups for when I run out of products that I love.

These little beauts are my brush holders. I know, I need another one. I actually made these because brush holders can easily cost over $20 and who wants to spend that on a holder when you can spend it on more makeup?? The glass jars started their journey in this world as candles from Walmart. After I burned up all the wax, I stuck them in the freezer for a few hours. Then, I took a butter knife and chipped out all of the left over wax. Next, I took some flaxseed that I had in the cabinet and filled them to about 3/4 full. That’s it!

Here is my light. I have to give credit to my fiancΓ© on this one. Since we are first time homeowners, neither of us know anything about wiring and neither of us wanted to pay someone to come out to rewire my room for vanity lights. So, we took another trip to Lowes and found this little gem. It is in the “under cabinet light” section. They have a ton of different options, but I liked this one. I prefer things to be semetrical, so the bar was perfect to center above my mirror. I was concerned that it wouldn’t be bright enough, but as you can see, it is hella bright. Especially at 6 in the morning. I also got the mirror from Lowes. Honestly, I could have probably found a cuter and cheaper one from a thrift store, but I didn’t have time to go searching, so I opted for convince on this one.

Since Jacki showed off her closet, I figured I would too! My closets are a little small in this house, so I have clothes spread throughout every room. This closet is my favorite though!! As you can see, I have a shoe problem and a fashion obsession. However, I am also a bargain hunter… So, I purchase everything off of the app, Poshmark. It is my FAVORITE. I have found the BEST deals on there and I’ve made some extra cash by selling the things that I don’t wear/use anymore. You can find clothing, accessories, shoes, and makeup at REALLY low prices. (If you want to try it out, download Poshmark and use the code BVMKH to get $5 to spend with them!) I can’t recommend it enough.

There you have my little in home salon. It is still in the works, but it has definitely become my favorite room of the house!!
